Glykas was found as a friendly adult stray cat near Omonia Square, central Athens, staggering and circling as if hit in the head.
“I came across an appeal by Nine Lives on Facebook for a home for a young adult male cat who was found ‘reeling’ in circles with no balance, near a busy main road. Glykas (which means ‘sweet’ in Greek) was caught and treated for labrynthitis at the vets and because he was so trusting and sweet, the volunteers of Nine Lives didn’t want to put him back out on to the streets if a home could be found….
‘Gly’, as we call him for short, is a sweet boy who adores his food, he will give anything a go! He loves a good cuddle, and drools on you when he’s treading or cuddling up. He particularly adores his ‘dad’ and will always choose ‘dad’ over ‘mum’ He loves a good rub-down with a tea towel when he comes in from the rain and is very vocal giving you prior warning as he looks for you to carry out this demanded task. Even in the middle of the night there is no respite from his shouts of ‘Get the tea towel human and dry me off’, as he covers the white bedding in wet muddy paw prints.”
