Tell the world that
animals matter
Nine Lives believes
that the single most
powerful thing that all of us can
do to end animal cruelty worldwide
is to sign the Universal
Declaration on Animal Welfare
proposed by the World Society for
the Protection of Animals (WSPA).
This
groundbreaking
declaration pushes
governments and individuals to
recognise
the sentience of
animals, to respect their welfare
needs and to bring an end to
animal cruelty.
With over a million
signatures already collected, WSPA
seeks 10 million signatures to let
the governments of the world know
that we are serious about
achieving a Universal Declaration
on Animal Welfare at the United
Nations.
The effect of this
declaration would be to:
1. Encourage
governments to improve their
national animal welfare
legislation
2. Provide
a basis for animal welfare
legislation in countries where it
does not already exist
3. Improve
public awareness of the importance
of animal welfare

Billions of
animals around the world –
from chickens in battery
farms to rabbits in
laboratories to starving
mongrels on the streets –
would benefit from this
simple agreement, which
would unite governments in
the name of animal welfare
for the first time.
